Drinking water is an important part of staying healthy.  The body is made up primarily of water.  We lose water each and every day from sweating, going to the bathroom, crying, dieting, or even drinking alcohol.  Because we lose so much water, it is necessary that we drink lots of water daily to ensure we can replace the water that is lost.  Not only does drinking water rehydrate the body, but it also has a variety of health benefits.  Chiropractic care from our clinic, combined with drinking adequate amounts of water each day, can lead to optimal health and wellness so that you feel your very best every day for many years to come.  The recommended amount of daily water intake is half of your body weight in ounces.

Decreases Muscle Cramping

Have you ever been woken from a deep sleep with cramps in your legs or feet?  Have you had to stop in the middle of a workout because of cramping?  A lot of muscle cramping can be attributed to lack of water intake.  It is essential that you stay hydrated daily to prevent muscle cramping.  Especially if you work out regularly, be sure to drink water before, during, and after a workout to keep muscles properly hydrated.

Prevents Fatigue

If you have ever felt extreme tiredness, so much so that it just seems too difficult to move or get motivated, this may be due to a lack of drinking enough water. Fatigue is one of the first signs of dehydration.  The heart relies on water to keep blood pumping throughout the body.  When you don’t drink enough, the heart has to work harder to pump blood.  Moreover, organs also have to work harder to function as they should, causing the feelings of fatigue in the body.

Removes Toxins

Toxins build up in the body over time, from the foods we eat, the things we put on our bodies, and the air we breathe.  Spinal misalignments can also cause toxins to build up.  Dr. Ed Rusher and Dr. Rob Burgett can perform gentle adjustments to remove spinal interference and toxin buildup.  But once toxins are released from the body after an adjustment, it is necessary to rid the body of these harmful toxins.  Drinking plenty of water before and after an adjustment can ensure that the body gets rid of these toxins.  Water also keeps the discs and vertebrae in your spine healthy, flexible, and in great shape.

Aids in Weight Loss

Drinking water can be very beneficial for losing weight.  Essentially, water in the stomach can trick the body into feeling full so that you are less tempted to snack or eat more at meal times.  Replacing soda or other carbonated drinks with water can keep calories down and increase weight loss.

Improves Health and Wellness

Both chiropractic care and drinking lots of water daily can improve how you look and feel.  Chiropractic care focuses on spinal health and proper nerve communication so that the body can function at top levels of health.  Combining chiropractic care and drinking enough water can prevent injuries, decrease sickness, and increase your health.

If you haven’t been feeling your best, consider increasing your water intake as well as scheduling a consultation with Dr. Ed Rusher and Dr. Rob Burgett  You will be amazed at the difference you experience!
